Eat Like The Japanese Do

japanese_bfastHave you ever wondered exactly what the Japanese eat for breakfast? Of course, here in America we are accustomed to our breakfast tacos and cereal, which are ever so delicious. I am an egg man myself, but in a recent visit to Japan, I saw that what they had for breakfast was much more savory than I was used to. Don’t get me wrong, it was terribly simple food because we were in Japan, after all. But I really didn’t see pancakes or scrambled eggs anywhere in sight.

This is perfect for anyone that loves sushi, because the Japanese breakfast will normally consist of grilled fish, steamed rice, miso, and pickled vegetables. This may sound totally odd, but I was hooked after several breakfasts of this sort. I love sushi myself, so to have the opportunity to enjoy this type of meal in the morning was something that struck me as awesome. I don’t know if I necessarily will give up my waffles on a daily basis, but it doesn’t hurt to try this maybe once a week or so. Maybe this is the reason that the Japanese live so much longer than us greedy Americans? Only time will tell…
