No, I am not talking about Nirvana, though I should be because they are an awesome band, but I am talking about my wife who is about to give birth in a few months. As new parents, we of course read the traditional advice and information for prenatal care, and we also came upon an article about listening to music in the womb. At first, that sounded really hokey to me, like advice that I did not want to take, but I started thinking about how your environment affects who you are as a person. If the odds were that are unborn babies could absorb the relaxing effects of music in utero, then I wanted to take that chance.
We decided to stray away from traditional classical music like Mozart or Bach, and we have been going more for slow ballads, like Cat Stevens and Jack Johnson. I am thinking that our baby is going to have a delightful taste in music, or at least be relaxed when he or she enters the world. Regardless, there is nothing cuter than to see my wife holding up her iPod headphones to her rounded stomach so our baby can hear some sweet tunes in the womb!
