Texting Hazards
Oh, yes, we definitely knew that this was going to happen, and no, this is not a story about driving and texting hazards, even though that is a huge problem. This is a simple story about a teen on Staten Island that fell into an open manhole when she was texting. I guess this goes to show how truly dangerous multitasking can be while texting and walking, though how many people do we see doing that on a daily basis? Texting is the most popular task of our generation, and I can’t tell you how many people I constantly see on their phones that aren’t even engaging with the people around them.
No, this isn’t supposed to be a soap box on how texting is ruining the world because I really do love the technology and ability to be able to shoot my husband or children a little note without having to call them, but really, what was this girl thinking? I also get upset when I see those stories of people getting into car accidents, simply because they were texting. The best part of the story is that apparently, this girl is enraged at what happened to her and wants to sue. If that’s not American, then I don’t know what is!
